National Guard Association of Florida - Officer and Enlisted National Guard Association of Florida - Officer and Enlisted

State Conference

The annual conference of the National Guard Officer & Enlisted Associations of Florida will be held at The Caribe Royale, 8101 World Center Drive, Orlando, Florida  32821.  The conference will be held Thursday through Sunday, 3-6 June 2010. The Joint Force Headquarters and the Florida Air National Guard will host this year’s conference and are working extremely hard to make it an outstanding event.

The Enlisted Association Auxiliary’s Silent Auction will begin on Thursday and conclude Saturday afternoon.  This event is open to all conference attendees and is a major fund-raiser for the Auxiliary.

The Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday morning, 4 June, with a start time of 8:00 a.m.  We will conduct our Business Session with reports and a question-and-answer period on Friday afternoon.   Civilian attire is acceptable and we encourage everyone to attend this 45-minute session.  To allow more time for our corporate partners, Family Night will be incorporated with our Corporate Exhibits.  The exhibits will be open from 2:00-4:00 p.m. with the Official Ribbon Cutting ceremony following at 5:00 p.m.  Following the Ribbon Cutting, we are pleased to offer families a low-cost evening of food, fun, and games — thanks to the generous donations of our corporate partners.

This year, during the Spouse Breakout, we are planning to honor Mrs. Judy Burnett.  As you may know, Major General Douglas Burnett will be retiring in June of this year and we would like to pause a moment to thank Judy for her dedication and friendship to our Guard family. There are plans are in the works to have an accessory fashion show!  So…bring your scarves…belts…Jewelry…and let us help you add more looks to that favorite outfit.  We also need volunteers to be models; all shapes and sizes are welcome.  If you would like to help, please contact mary.e.paul@us.army.mil.  This will be an enjoyable time for all, so please plan to join us.  This is a wonderful opportunity to come together once again — not only to see familiar faces, but to meet new friends as well.

This year, a 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held on Saturday morning, 5 June, beginning at 6:00 a.m.  After the Run, the Opening Session will be called to order by the Presidents of the Associations at 9:00 a.m.  This session’s agenda items will be of interest to our Spouses/Guests as well as our corporate sponsors.  A cook out lunch of Hamburgers and Hot Dogs for all attendees is planned for the pool area.  Saturday’s events will culminate with our evening banquet, followed by the MACOM Hospitality Rooms.  A perfect way to end the conference will be the Prayer Breakfast on Sunday morning.

During this conference, we intend to honor the many contributions our young men and women are making both on state and federal status.  We also want to honor Maj Gen Douglas Burnett for his more than eight years of leadership to the Florida National Guard and for his many accomplishments during that tenure.  We also want to think about the exciting future ahead.

Any amendments to the Bylaws of the NGOA of Florida must be presented to the President 24 hours prior to the convening for the first session (Article VIII, Bylaws).  Amendments to the Constitution must be presented in writing to the President 30 days prior to the date of the conference (Article XI, Constitution).
